Emergent co-founders Mukund and Madhav Jha.

Today we are announcing our investment in Emergent, an AI app builder that lets small businesses create the software they need without writing code or hiring engineers. We are proud to back Mukund Jha, Madhav Jha and their team. Creaegis led the round, and Sentinel Global co-led alongside MNI Ventures – Claypond Capital, with participation from Khosla Ventures, SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed and Y Combinator. For as long as software has existed, demand for it has outrun the number of people able to build it, and most of the world’s small businesses have lived on the wrong side of that gap. The nail salon down the street, the local HVAC company. They run on spreadsheets and tools that were never made for them, because anything better has been out of reach. There are around 400 million small businesses in the world, and very few have ever had software built for the way they actually work. More than three-quarters of US small businesses are now using or exploring AI, yet almost none can build the software they need themselves. Emergent changes that. A business owner describes what they need in plain language, and Emergent builds a real, production-grade application. It then deploys the app and keeps it running. Writing the code is only a small part of shipping software. Most of the work is everything that comes after, and that is the part other tools leave to the customer. Emergent does the whole job, which is why a non-technical owner can actually rely on it.

“Emergent was, for me, a revolution. Truly a game changer for my day-to-

day business.”

Jean-Christophe Arnaud, Founder of Malorian, an event production company that builds booths for gaming and tech brands.

That full coverage is what sets the company apart. A small business owner does not want to manage a hosting provider and a database, and on most platforms that friction is where they give up. Emergent removes it, and, according to available information, it is among the first in its category to build native mobile apps, so owners can run their business from a phone. Once a company has rebuilt its operations on Emergent, it tends to stay. The newest piece is Wingman, an agent that sits on top of the apps people build and does the work rather than just the building. It can run customer service and handle outreach on its own. One HVAC operator wired his Emergent lead-gen site into Wingman so it qualifies leads and sends quotes over the phone with no one involved. It is the point where Emergent stops being a tool a business uses and starts being one that works for it.

Mukund and Madhav are brothers, both computer science PhDs, and they built their coding agent from the ground up rather than putting a wrapper around someone else’s model. Mukund was the CTO of Dunzo, one of India’s most ambitious consumer companies, a Google-backed delivery app used by millions. Madhav started the research team at Amazon that shipped SageMaker, the tool thousands of companies now use to build and run their own AI. Every reference we took came back the same way.

The results so far are hard to argue with. Emergent launched in June 2025 and reached a $100M annual run rate in about nine months, almost entirely through word of mouth rather than paid marketing. Its launch was led by a community of creators and live workshops that generated billions of views, and more than 7 million people have now tried the product. Demand for software has always run ahead of the world’s ability to make it. Emergent is closing that gap for the people who were left out, and it is doing so with a team fast enough to stay in front. We are excited to be on the journey with Mukund, Madhav and everyone at Emergent.
